Deuteronomy 8:5 and Proverbs 3:11-12 compare God&#039;s discipline to a father&#039;s, and Hebrews 12:5-11 quotes Proverbs. Proverbs 13:24 applies the word to parents and 1 Corinthians 9:27 to Paul&#039;s own body, and Matthew 18:15-17 sets out how a church corrects a member who sins.
