Dez.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Die fr\u00fcheste Erw\u00e4hnung der heiligen Bibiana, einer r\u00f6mischen M\u00e4rtyrerin, in einer authentischen historischen Quelle findet sich im \u201eLiber Pontificalis\u201c, wo in der Biografie von Papst Simplicius (468-483) festgehalten ist, dass dieser Papst \u201eeine Basilika der heiligen M\u00e4rtyrerin Bibiana weihte, die ihren Leichnam enthielt\u201c. Diese Basilika existiert noch heute. Im f\u00fcnften Jahrhundert ruhten die sterblichen \u00dcberreste der heiligen Bibiana also innerhalb der Stadtmauern. Wir haben keine weiteren historischen Einzelheiten \u00fcber die M\u00e4rtyrerin oder die Umst\u00e4nde ihres Todes, noch wissen wir, warum sie innerhalb der Stadt selbst beigesetzt wurde. In sp\u00e4terer Zeit entstand eine Legende um sie, die mit den Akten des Martyriums der Heiligen Johannes und Paulus verbunden ist und keinen historischen Anspruch auf Glaubw\u00fcrdigkeit hat. <\/p>\n<p>Dieser Legende zufolge war Bibiana die Tochter eines ehemaligen Pr\u00e4fekten, Flavianus, der von Julian Apostata verbannt wurde. Dafrosa, die Frau des Flavianus, und seine beiden T\u00f6chter, Demetria und Bibiana, wurden ebenfalls von Julian verfolgt. Dafrosa und Demetria starben eines nat\u00fcrlichen Todes und wurden von Bibiana in ihrem eigenen Haus beigesetzt, doch Bibiana wurde gefoltert und starb an den Folgen ihrer Leiden. Zwei Tage nach ihrem Tod bestattete ein Priester namens Johannes Bibiana in der N\u00e4he ihrer Mutter und Schwester in ihrem Haus, und das Haus wurde sp\u00e4ter in eine Kirche umgewandelt. Es ist offensichtlich, dass die Legende auf diese Weise den Ursprung der Kirche und die Anwesenheit der Leichname der oben genannten Bekenner darin erkl\u00e4ren will. Der Bericht in den Martyrologien des neunten Jahrhunderts stammt aus dieser Legende.<\/p>\n<p>Ein anderer Bericht besagt, dass Kaiser Julian im Jahr 363 Apronianus zum Gouverneur von Rom ernannte. Bibiana litt unter der von ihm begonnenen Verfolgung. Sie war die Tochter der Christen Flavian, eines r\u00f6mischen Ritters, und seiner Frau Dafrosa. Bibianas Vater wurde gefoltert und ins Exil geschickt, wo er an seinen Wunden starb. Ihre Mutter wurde enthauptet, und ihre beiden T\u00f6chter, Bibiana und Demetria, wurden ihres Besitzes beraubt und dem Elend \u00fcberlassen. Sie blieben jedoch in ihrem Haus und verbrachten ihre Zeit mit Fasten und Gebet. Gouverneur Apronianus, der sah, dass Hunger und Not keine Wirkung auf sie hatten, lie\u00df sie vorladen. Demetria fiel, nachdem sie ihren Glauben bekannt hatte, tot zu F\u00fc\u00dfen des Tyrannen nieder. Bibiana wurde f\u00fcr gr\u00f6\u00dfere Leiden aufgespart. Sie wurde in die H\u00e4nde einer b\u00f6sen Frau namens Rufina gegeben, die vergeblich versuchte, ihre Jungfr\u00e4ulichkeit zu beflecken. Sie wandte sowohl Schl\u00e4ge als auch \u00dcberredungsk\u00fcnste an, doch die christliche Jungfrau blieb standhaft. W\u00fctend \u00fcber die Best\u00e4ndigkeit dieser heiligen Jungfrau befahl Apronianus, sie an eine S\u00e4ule zu binden und mit Gei\u00dfeln zu peitschen, die mit Bleigewichten beschwert waren, bis sie starb. Die Heilige ertrug die Qualen mit Freude und starb unter den Schl\u00e4gen, die ihr die Hand des Henkers zuf\u00fcgte. Ihr K\u00f6rper wurde dann unter freiem Himmel den wilden Tieren zum Fra\u00df vorgeworfen, doch keines wollte ihn ber\u00fchren.
