Mai 2025 \/ 16:28 Uhr (CNA).<\/p>\n<p>Die Catholic University of America (CUA) gab am Montag bekannt, dass sie 7% ihrer Belegschaft abgebaut hat, als letzten Schritt zur Bew\u00e4ltigung des strukturellen Defizits der Universit\u00e4t.<\/p>\n<p>Laut der CUA \u2013 einer von zwei p\u00e4pstlichen Universit\u00e4ten in den USA und die einzige Hochschule, die von den US-Bisch\u00f6fen gegr\u00fcndet wurde \u2013 wurden 66 aktive Stellen als ungl\u00fccklicher, aber \u201ewesentlicher\u201c Teil der Bem\u00fchungen der Universit\u00e4t gestrichen, ihren Haushalt auszugleichen, der laut Ank\u00fcndigung der Universit\u00e4t im letzten Jahr ein Defizit von $30 Millionen aufwies.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Die in Washington, D.C. ans\u00e4ssige Einrichtung ergriff mehrere Ma\u00dfnahmen, um ihr j\u00e4hrliches Betriebsbudget zu reduzieren \u2013 durch die Senkung der Betriebskosten, die Einf\u00fchrung mehrerer neuer \u201eeinnahmengenerierender\u201c akademischer Programme, das Angebot freiwilliger Abfindungspakete f\u00fcr einige Fakult\u00e4tsmitglieder und den Abbau einiger Stellen, so die Mitteilung vom Montag <a href=\"https:\/\/www.catholic.edu\/all-stories\/important-update-universitys-financial-health\" target=\"null\" class=\"null\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Ank\u00fcndigung<\/a> von Universit\u00e4tspr\u00e4sident Peter Kilpatrick.<\/p>\n<p>Ende 2024 hatte der Universit\u00e4tspr\u00e4sident <a href=\"https:\/\/www.catholicnewsagency.com\/news\/261671\/with-eye-on-eliminating-deficit-cua-grapples-with-proposed-changes-to-academic-programs\" target=\"null\" class=\"null\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">gab<\/a> dass aufgrund steigender Kosten und sinkender Einschreibungszahlen das Jahresbudget der Universit\u00e4t ein Defizit von $30 Millionen aufwies und um 10% gek\u00fcrzt werden musste.<\/p>\n<p>In einer gegen\u00fcber CNA abgegebenen Erkl\u00e4rung teilte die Universit\u00e4t mit, dass die K\u00fcrzungen der letzte Teil des Plans zum Haushaltsausgleich seien, was \u201enicht ohne den Abbau von Stellen\u201c m\u00f6glich gewesen w\u00e4re.<\/p>\n<p>\u201eDer urspr\u00fcnglich im letzten Oktober angek\u00fcndigte Plan erforderte eine Anpassung des Betriebsbudgets der Universit\u00e4t um etwa 10% ($30 Millionen), was betriebliche Budgetk\u00fcrzungen, die Einf\u00fchrung mehrerer neuer einnahmengenerierender akademischer Programme und personelle Anpassungen umfasste\u201c, so die Erkl\u00e4rung weiter.<\/p>\n<p>Der Abschluss des \u201eumfassenden finanziellen Resilienzplans\u201c versetzt die Universit\u00e4t laut der Erkl\u00e4rung \u201ezum ersten Mal seit Jahren auf ein solides finanzielles Fundament\u201c.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Die Universit\u00e4t teilte mit, dass sie die \u201eUnterst\u00fctzung der betroffenen Mitarbeiter\u201c durch \u201everbesserte Abfindungspakete und Outplacement-Dienste\u201c priorisiere.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Mitarbeiter, deren Stellen gestrichen wurden, erhalten einen einmonatigen bezahlten Urlaub bei vollen Leistungen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201eF\u00fcr unsere ausscheidenden Kollegen bieten wir umfassende Unterst\u00fctzung beim \u00dcbergang, die ein verbessertes Abfindungspaket beinhaltet, das teilweise durch die mitf\u00fchlende Unterst\u00fctzung unserer engagierten Spender erm\u00f6glicht wurde\u201c, sagte Kilpatrick in der Ank\u00fcndigung.<\/p>\n<p>\u201eJede betroffene Person hat dazu beigetragen, unsere Einrichtung zu formen und unsere Mission auf bedeutsame Weise zu unterst\u00fctzen\u201c, fuhr er fort.<\/p>\n<p>Kilpatrick merkte an, dass \u201ediese Nachricht unsere gesamte Gemeinschaft betrifft\u201c und versprach, Unterst\u00fctzung zu leisten.<\/p>\n<p>\u201eF\u00fcr diejenigen, die direkt betroffen sind, stellt dies eine bedeutende pers\u00f6nliche und berufliche Ver\u00e4nderung dar.
