Juni und bezog sich dabei auf den \u201eabscheulichen Terroranschlag\u201c vom Sonntag durch den Islamischen Staat auf die griechisch-orthodoxe Gemeinde in Damaskus, bei dem 25 Gl\u00e4ubige w\u00e4hrend der G\u00f6ttlichen Liturgie ihr Leben verloren.<\/p>\n<p>Am Sonntag, dem 22. Juni, dem Hochfest Fronleichnam, berichteten Augenzeugen, dass zwei bewaffnete M\u00e4nner <a href=\"https:\/\/www.catholicnewsagency.com\/news\/264933\/church-leaders-react-to-deadly-attack-on-mar-elias-church-in-damascus\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">die griechisch-orthodoxe Kirche<\/a> von St. Elias in Douailah am Rande der syrischen Hauptstadt. Der brutale Angriff, der erste seit dem Sturz des Assad-Regimes im Dezember 2024, forderte zudem 63 Verletzte.<\/p>\n<p>W\u00e4hrend seiner Begr\u00fc\u00dfung der italienischsprachigen Gl\u00e4ubigen empfahl der Papst die Verstorbenen \u201eder Barmherzigkeit Gottes\u201c und betete f\u00fcr die Verwundeten und ihre Familien.<\/p>\n<p>\u201eDen Christen im Nahen Osten sage ich: Ich bin euch nahe! Die ganze Kirche ist euch nahe!\u201c, rief Papst Leo aus.<\/p>\n<p>Dieses tragische Ereignis, so der Papst, \u201eerinnert an die tiefe Zerbrechlichkeit, mit der Syrien nach Jahren des Konflikts und der Instabilit\u00e4t immer noch konfrontiert ist.\u201c<\/p>\n<p>Leo XIV. betonte, es sei unerl\u00e4sslich, dass die internationale Gemeinschaft \u201edieses Land nicht ignoriert, sondern weiterhin Unterst\u00fctzung durch Gesten der Solidarit\u00e4t und ein erneuertes Engagement f\u00fcr Frieden und Vers\u00f6hnung anbietet.\u201c<\/p>\n<p>Der Heilige Vater sagte, er verfolge weiterhin \u201eaufmerksam und mit Hoffnung die Entwicklungen im Iran, in Israel und Pal\u00e4stina\u201c und erinnerte daran, dass die Worte des Propheten Jesaja heute dringender denn je seien: \u201eKein Volk wird mehr das Schwert gegen ein anderes erheben, und sie werden nicht mehr lernen, Krieg zu f\u00fchren\u201c (Jes 2,4).<\/p>\n<p>\u201eM\u00f6ge diese Stimme, die vom Allerh\u00f6chsten kommt, geh\u00f6rt werden!
