Le sang de saint Janvier s'est liqu\u00e9fi\u00e9 jeudi avant une messe \u00e0 Naples, en Italie, o\u00f9 l'archev\u00eaque a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que le sang du martyr du IVe si\u00e8cle est un rappel puissant que \u00ab l'amour est plus fort que la mort \u00bb.<\/p>\n

L'archev\u00eaque de Naples, Domenico Battaglia, a brandi une ampoule contenant la relique du sang du saint dans la cath\u00e9drale de Naples le jour de sa f\u00eate, r\u00e9v\u00e9lant la liqu\u00e9faction sous les cris et les acclamations des fid\u00e8les qui attendaient dans la cath\u00e9drale depuis le d\u00e9but de la matin\u00e9e. <\/p>\n

\u00ab Chaque goutte de ce sang nous parle de l'amour de Dieu \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Mgr Battaglia dans son hom\u00e9lie. \u00ab Ce sang est un signe du sang du Christ, de sa passion. \u00bb<\/p>\n

L'archev\u00eaque a rappel\u00e9 que le 19 septembre marque l'anniversaire du martyre de saint Janvier, survenu il y a plus de 1 700 ans, au cours duquel le saint a choisi la mort en \u00ab fid\u00e9lit\u00e9 \u00e0 l'\u00c9vangile \u00bb pour montrer que l'amour de Dieu est \u00ab plus fort que la mort, la violence ou tout autre pouvoir \u00bb.<\/p>\n

Des centaines de personnes se sont rassembl\u00e9es dans la cath\u00e9drale de l'Assomption de Marie \u00e0 Naples pour la f\u00eate de saint Janvier, connu sous le nom de San Gennaro en italien. Le saint \u00e9tait un \u00e9v\u00eaque catholique qui aurait \u00e9t\u00e9 martyris\u00e9 pendant la pers\u00e9cution des chr\u00e9tiens sous l'empereur Diocl\u00e9tien.<\/p>\n

Dans la tradition napolitaine, l'absence de liqu\u00e9faction du sang annonce la guerre, la famine, la maladie ou d'autres catastrophes. Ce miracle r\u00e9put\u00e9 se produit g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement jusqu'\u00e0 trois fois par an : le 19 septembre, jour de la f\u00eate du saint ; le premier samedi de mai, jour du transfert de ses restes \u00e0 Naples ; et le 16 d\u00e9cembre, anniversaire de l'\u00e9ruption du V\u00e9suve voisin en 1631.<\/p>\n

Dans son hom\u00e9lie, l'archev\u00eaque de Naples a mis en garde contre le fait de r\u00e9duire la v\u00e9n\u00e9ration du saint de la ville \u00e0 une simple superstition.<\/p>\n

\u00ab Nous n'avons pas \u00e0 nous inqui\u00e9ter si le sang de cette relique ne se liqu\u00e9fie pas, mais nous devons nous inqui\u00e9ter si c'est le sang des opprim\u00e9s, des marginalis\u00e9s et des pauvres qui coule dans nos rues \u00bb, a-t-il d\u00e9clar\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Le prince Carlo de la Maison de Bourbon et le prince Emanuele Filiberto de Savoie \u00e9taient pr\u00e9sents dans la cath\u00e9drale de Naples et se sont embrass\u00e9s \u00e0 l'annonce de la liqu\u00e9faction de la relique, selon les m\u00e9dias italiens.<\/p>\n

La messe \u00e9tait le point culminant de deux jours de c\u00e9l\u00e9brations pour le saint patron de la ville du sud de l'Italie. <\/p>\n

Saint Janvier \u00ab nous rappelle \u00e0 chacun aujourd'hui que l'\u00c9vangile de J\u00e9sus fournit la boussole dont nous avons besoin pour vivre, pour vivre pleinement, en affrontant de front et avec courage les d\u00e9fis que chaque \u00e9poque apporte \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Mgr Battaglia.<\/p>\n
