Teresa Rodriguez travaillait comme infirmi\u00e8re en soins palliatifs, rendant visite \u00e0 des patients dans un \u00e9tablissement sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9 dans les troubles de la m\u00e9moire, lorsqu'elle a r\u00e9alis\u00e9 qu'aucun service spirituel n'\u00e9tait propos\u00e9 \u00e0 ses patients. En discutant un jour avec un patient et son mari, l'id\u00e9e d'organiser un temps de pri\u00e8re du chapelet a \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9voqu\u00e9e. Rodriguez a imm\u00e9diatement d\u00e9cid\u00e9 de concr\u00e9tiser ce projet.<\/p>\n

\u00ab Ce jour-l\u00e0, j'ai parl\u00e9 \u00e0 la directrice des activit\u00e9s... et elle \u00e9tait ravie. [Elle \u00e9tait] tellement enthousiaste \u00e0 l'id\u00e9e que nous envisagions de venir prier avec les r\u00e9sidents \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Rodriguez \u00e0 CNA lors d'une interview. <\/p>\n

\u00c0 l'\u00e9poque, Rodriguez animait une \u00e9tude biblique dans sa paroisse, Sacred Heart of Mary \u00e0 Boulder, dans le Colorado. Elle a demand\u00e9 aux femmes de son groupe si l'une d'entre elles serait pr\u00eate \u00e0 se porter volontaire pour prier le chapelet avec les patients d'un \u00e9tablissement de soins de la m\u00e9moire. Deux d'entre elles se sont port\u00e9es volontaires pour l'accompagner. <\/p>\n

L'initiative a rapidement \u00e9t\u00e9 un succ\u00e8s. Ce qui avait commenc\u00e9 comme un \u00e9v\u00e9nement hebdomadaire est vite pass\u00e9 \u00e0 deux fois par semaine, puis trois. Rodriguez a publi\u00e9 des annonces dans les paroisses environnantes et a pu rassembler davantage de b\u00e9n\u00e9voles. Cela a marqu\u00e9 le d\u00e9but de ce qui est aujourd'hui connu sous le nom de Rosary Team<\/a>, qui a d\u00e9but\u00e9 en 2019 et compte aujourd'hui plus de 500 b\u00e9n\u00e9voles dans 18 \u00c9tats.<\/p>\n

M\u00eame pendant la pand\u00e9mie de COVID-19, la Rosary Team a organis\u00e9 des chapelets via Zoom qui \u00e9taient diffus\u00e9s dans les \u00e9tablissements. Une fois que ceux-ci ont commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 rouvrir, Rodriguez a repris contact avec eux pour voir s'ils pouvaient \u00e0 nouveau organiser des chapelets en personne et, \u00e0 sa grande surprise, l'enthousiasme \u00e9tait encore plus grand \u00e0 l'id\u00e9e que des personnes viennent prier le chapelet avec les r\u00e9sidents. <\/p>\n

Au fil des ans, Rodriguez a v\u00e9cu une multitude d'exp\u00e9riences \u00e9mouvantes avec les r\u00e9sidents des \u00e9tablissements de soins de la m\u00e9moire. <\/p>\n

\u00ab L'une d'elles m'a vraiment touch\u00e9e : je priais avec une r\u00e9sidente et, une fois la pri\u00e8re termin\u00e9e, elle m'a dit : \u201cC'est le premier Je vous salue Marie que je prie depuis 45 ans\u201d \u00bb, se souvient Rodriguez. <\/p>\n

Elle a ajout\u00e9 que, parfois, ils rencontrent des r\u00e9sidents qui ne peuvent pas parler ou ne peuvent dire que tr\u00e8s peu de mots, \u00ab puis, tout \u00e0 coup, nous commen\u00e7ons \u00e0 prier le chapelet avec eux et ils r\u00e9citent \u00e0 haute voix les pri\u00e8res du chapelet \u00bb.<\/p>\n

Melanie McClanahan, b\u00e9n\u00e9vole de la Rosary Team, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que son temps de b\u00e9n\u00e9volat au sein du minist\u00e8re \u00ab a \u00e9t\u00e9 un miracle dans ma vie et je vois comment c'est un miracle dans la vie des autres. J'ai vu des gens gu\u00e9rir, moi y compris ; j'ai vu des membres de familles se rapprocher, et j'ai vu des personnes qui n'\u00e9taient pas s\u00fbres de leurs croyances grandir dans leur amour de J\u00e9sus et leur d\u00e9votion envers notre Sainte M\u00e8re \u00bb.<\/p>\n

Lorsqu'on lui a demand\u00e9 pourquoi il est si important de faire un tel travail aupr\u00e8s des personnes \u00e2g\u00e9es et atteintes de troubles de la m\u00e9moire, Rodriguez a r\u00e9pondu : \u00ab Les personnes \u00e2g\u00e9es sont silencieuses et nous ne les voyons pas beaucoup \u2014 en raison de leurs probl\u00e8mes de sant\u00e9 et de leur mobilit\u00e9 \u2014 et elles peuvent \u00eatre facilement oubli\u00e9es, surtout lorsqu'elles sont dans des \u00e9tablissements, lorsqu'elles ne sont pas dans nos paroisses, dans nos quartiers ou dans les \u00e9piceries. C'est un groupe si facile \u00e0 oublier et nous ne voulons pas les oublier \u00bb.<\/p>\n

\u00ab C'est une question pro-vie au sein d'un minist\u00e8re pro-vie, nous devons prendre soin des personnes de la conception \u00e0 la mort naturelle, et cela fait partie du soin que nous leur apportons, vous savez, de les reconna\u00eetre et de leur donner de l'amour \u00bb, a-t-elle ajout\u00e9.<\/p>\n
