Le palais apostolique est un complexe de b\u00e2timents qui a servi pendant des si\u00e8cles de r\u00e9sidence d'\u00e9t\u00e9 au pape et surplombe le lac Albano. \/ Cr\u00e9dit : Stefano Tammaro\/Shutterstock<\/span>\n<\/div>\n<p>Cit\u00e9 du Vatican, 5 juillet 2025 \/ 08h30 (CNA).<\/p>\n<p>Deux mois apr\u00e8s le d\u00e9but de son pontificat, le pape L\u00e9on XIV quittera Rome pour passer deux semaines dans une propri\u00e9t\u00e9 pontificale situ\u00e9e dans la ville lacustre de Castel Gandolfo, \u00e0 29 kilom\u00e8tres au sud de la ville, parfois appel\u00e9e la \u00ab seconde Cit\u00e9 du Vatican \u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>Le pontife s\u00e9journera dans la propri\u00e9t\u00e9 vaticane situ\u00e9e sur la colline \u00ab pour une p\u00e9riode de repos \u00bb de l'apr\u00e8s-midi du 6 juillet \u00e0 l'apr\u00e8s-midi du 20 juillet, a annonc\u00e9 le Vatican le mois dernier. Cr\u00e9dit : Courtney Mares\/CNA<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Alors que le pr\u00e9d\u00e9cesseur imm\u00e9diat de L\u00e9on, le pape Fran\u00e7ois, avait choisi de ne pas utiliser ce territoire triangulaire comme r\u00e9sidence d'\u00e9t\u00e9, les papes Beno\u00eet XVI et Jean-Paul II avaient pour habitude d'\u00e9chapper \u00e0 la chaleur intense de Rome en passant plusieurs mois \u00e0 se d\u00e9tendre, \u00e0 \u00e9tudier et \u00e0 travailler dans cette ville situ\u00e9e sur les hauteurs.<\/p>\n<p>Selon Vatican News, le pape L\u00e9on a effectu\u00e9 une visite rapide \u00e0 Castel Gandolfo dans l'apr\u00e8s-midi du 3 juillet pour v\u00e9rifier l'avancement des travaux de r\u00e9novation de la Villa Barberini, o\u00f9 il s\u00e9journera.<\/p>\n<p>Un court de tennis a \u00e9galement \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9cemment install\u00e9 sur la propri\u00e9t\u00e9 pour le pape amateur de tennis, a rapport\u00e9 le New York Times. La piscine serait \u00e9galement en cours de rafra\u00eechissement en pr\u00e9vision de l'arriv\u00e9e de L\u00e9on.<\/p>\n<p>Les papes pr\u00e9c\u00e9dents vivaient pendant leurs retraites dans le palais pontifical du domaine, situ\u00e9 \u00e0 la limite de la ville de Castel Gandolfo et des jardins, donnant sur la place de la Libert\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Mais en 2016, le pape Fran\u00e7ois a transform\u00e9 le palais papal de Castel Gandolfo en mus\u00e9e. Deux ans auparavant, il avait ouvert les jardins aux visiteurs.<\/p>\n<p>Le palais et les jardins resteront ouverts au public pendant le s\u00e9jour de L\u00e9on, car il r\u00e9sidera dans un autre palais sur le domaine : la Villa Barberini.<\/p>\n<p><strong>La \u00ab seconde Cit\u00e9 du Vatican \u00bb<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Les liens papaux avec Castel Gandolfo remontent \u00e0 1596 ; le site est devenu une r\u00e9sidence papale officielle 30 ans plus tard. L'atmosph\u00e8re calme et les jardins pittoresques offraient un espace r\u00e9parateur pour lire, \u00e9crire et se promener \u2014 ou, dans le cas de Jean-Paul II, pour faire quelques longueurs dans la piscine de la propri\u00e9t\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Pour Beno\u00eet XVI, la villa \u00e9tait une escapade estivale favorite durant son pontificat. Il a \u00e9galement choisi d'y passer quelque temps apr\u00e8s avoir renonc\u00e9 \u00e0 la papaut\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab Depuis 1628, les papes vivent \u00e0 Castel Gandolfo. Certains plus, d'autres moins, mais leur pr\u00e9sence a \u00e9t\u00e9 constante. C'est une ville habitu\u00e9e \u00e0 la vie quotidienne du pape \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 le mois dernier le maire Alberto de Angelis \u00e0 ACI Prensa, le partenaire d'information en langue espagnole de CNA.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Priez avec le pape L\u00e9on XIV<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Une partie de la pr\u00e9sence papale \u00e0 Castel Gandolfo est l'occasion de prier l'Ang\u00e9lus du dimanche avec L\u00e9on.
