La tradizione afferma che desiderava diventare benedettino e visse come oblato.<\/p>\n<p>Gli oblati benedettini sono uomini e donne, sia laici che ordinati, che cercano Dio sforzandosi di diventare santi nella loro vita quotidiana, nella loro famiglia e nel loro posto di lavoro. Gli oblati offrono la loro vita a Dio attraverso la preghiera e il servizio e partecipano fedelmente alla vita liturgica e sacramentale della Chiesa.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Enrico mostr\u00f2 tale amore e venerazione per i benedettini che fu dichiarato patrono degli oblati benedettini dopo la sua canonizzazione da parte di Papa Pio X.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Nel 1006 Enrico fond\u00f2 la sede di Bamberga e ne costru\u00ec la cattedrale. Fu consacrata da Papa Benedetto VIII nel 1020. Durante questo periodo, Enrico stabil\u00ec anche un monastero a Bamberga e sostenne le riforme avviate dai monaci di Cluny in Francia.<\/p>\n<p>Durante gli ultimi anni della sua vita, Enrico soffr\u00ec di una grave malattia e di un altro disturbo che gli lasci\u00f2 la gamba sinistra paralizzata. Trov\u00f2 forza nella preghiera durante questi momenti difficili. Mor\u00ec vicino a Gottinga, in Germania, il 13 luglio 1024, all'et\u00e0 di 51 anni a causa di un'infezione urinaria cronica.
