The challenge for us as Christians is to find ways to incorporate these customs, if we choose to do so, in a manner that enhances rather than detracts from our celebration of Christ's birth. At the same time, we must guard against falling into the trap of turning Christmas into a purely materialistic or secular event, as doing so risks losing sight of its sacred significance.
