The Bible tells a husband to love his wife, to keep faith with her and to provide for his household. The New Testament letters give the commands (Ephesians 5:25, Colossians 3:19, 1 Peter 3:7), and the Old Testament shows husbands acting on them, as when Isaac prays for Rebekah (Genesis 25:21) and Hosea is sent to love his wife again (Hosea 3:1).
