As shepherds of God's flock, we are called to care for all of His children, each created uniquely in His image. To minister effectively to introverts, extroverted church leaders must first seek to understand and appreciate the gifts and needs of these more reserved members of our community. Let us reflect on how we might grow in this understanding and in our ability to serve all of God's people.<\/p>\n
We must cultivate a spirit of humility and openness to different ways of experiencing and expressing faith. As Saint Paul reminds us, \"Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others\" (Philippians 2:3-4). This means recognizing that our own extroverted approach is not the only valid way to engage with God and the church community.<\/p>\n
Secondly, we must educate ourselves about introversion. Take time to read books, attend workshops, or engage in conversations with introverted members of your congregation. Seek to understand their perspective, their needs, and the unique gifts they bring to the body of Christ. Remember, \"The ear cannot say to the eye, 'I don't need you!'\" (1 Corinthians 12:21).<\/p>\n
Thirdly, practice active listening. Introverts often process thoughts internally before speaking, so give them time and space to formulate their ideas.
