Nu, op de 10e verjaardag van hun martelaarschap, eert een korte animatiefilm genaamd \u201cThe 21\u201d deze 21 mannen die stierven omdat ze weigerden hun geloof in Jezus Christus te verloochenen.<\/p>\n<p>De 13 minuten durende korte animatiefilm werd gemaakt door MORE Productions in samenwerking met de wereldwijde Koptische gemeenschap. Acteur Jonathan Roumie, vooral bekend van zijn vertolking van Jezus in de hitserie \u201cThe Chosen\u201d, trad op als uitvoerend producent van de film.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe 21\u201d kan gratis worden bekeken op <a href=\"http:\/\/www.the21film.com\/\" target=\"null\" class=\"null\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">www.the21film.com<\/a> van 14 t\/m 17 februari. Daarna moeten kijkers een e-mailadres opgeven om toegang te krijgen tot de film.<\/p>\n<p>Mark Rodgers, oprichter van MORE Productions, bezocht Egypte in 2019 en voelde zich geroepen om een film te maken die de spirituele overwinning van de martelaren belichtte. \u201cThe 21\u201d presenteert een accuraat verslag van de ontvoering, detentie en executie van de mannen. Het werd ontwikkeld op basis van uitgebreid onderzoek en talloze gesprekken met familieleden, vrienden en Koptische geestelijken die de 21 mannen kenden.<\/p>\n<p>De originele muziek werd gecomponeerd en opgenomen door de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theayoubsisters.com\" target=\"null\" class=\"null\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Ayoub Sisters<\/a>, klassiek geschoolde musici die Koptische hymnen en liturgie in hun muziek verwerken.<\/p>\n<p>De film is ook uniek omdat er gebruik wordt gemaakt van neo-Koptische iconografie. Tod Polson, voormalig creatief directeur bij Cartoon Saloon, leidde vijf jaar lang een team van meer dan 70 artiesten van wereldklasse uit meer dan 70 landen om de animatiestijl van de film te cre\u00ebren.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAls christenen weten we dat de dood niet het einde is, en zelfs niet het grootste om te vrezen. De verhalen van deze dappere mannen moeten worden verteld en gedeeld, zodat de wereld weet in wie we het ultieme voorbeeld van hoop vinden... een hoop die nooit dooft,\u201d zei Roumie in een persbericht.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHet is aan ons in de creatieve gemeenschap om films als deze te maken om degenen die het ultieme offer brachten voor hun geloof in de schijnwerpers te zetten en te eren: martelaren (en hun families) die de rest van ons hebben laten zien wat discipelschap werkelijk betekent en hoe heiligheid eruitziet,\u201d voegde hij eraan toe. \u201cGods liefde overstijgt en vernieuwt alle dingen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In mei 2023 voegde paus Franciscus de Koptische mannen toe aan het <a href=\"https:\/\/www.catholicnewsagency.com\/news\/254283\/pope-francis-adds-coptic-orthodox-martyrs-to-liturgical-book-of-saints\" target=\"null\" class=\"null\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Roman Martyrology<\/a>, de offici\u00eble lijst van heiligen van de Katholieke Kerk, en erkende hen als martelaren.
