Paus Leo XIV heeft zuster Tiziana Merletti benoemd tot secretaris van het Dicasterie voor Instituten van Gewijd Leven en voor Gemeenschappen van Apostolisch Leven.<\/p>\n

Volgens de Persdienst van de Heilige Stoel diende de 66-jarige religieuze voorheen negen jaar lang als overste-generaal van de Franciscanessen van de Armen.<\/p>\n

Zij zal rechtstreeks rapporteren aan een andere zuster, zuster Simona Brambilla, die door paus Franciscus in januari werd benoemd tot prefect van het Vaticaanse departement, dat verantwoordelijk is voor alle zaken betreffende het bestuur, de discipline, de studies, de bezittingen, de rechten en de privileges van instituten van gewijd leven.<\/p>\n

Onder de overleden Argentijnse paus nam het leiderschap van vrouwen aanzienlijk toe. Volgens gegevens bijgehouden door het Vaticaan op zijn website<\/a>, steeg de vrouwelijke aanwezigheid van bijna 19,2% naar 23,4% tijdens het pontificaat van Franciscus. Met de apostolische constitutie van 2022 Praedicate Evangelium<\/em><\/a>, bepaalde Franciscus dat leken, naast vrouwen, een dicasterie konden leiden en prefect konden worden, een positie die voorheen was voorbehouden aan kardinalen en aartsbisschoppen.<\/p>\n

Doctoraat in het canoniek recht, ervaring in kerkelijk bestuur<\/h2>\n

Merletti werd geboren op 30 september 1959 in Pineto in de Italiaanse provincie Teramo en legde haar eerste religieuze geloften af in 1986 bij het Instituut van de Franciscanessen van de Armen. Ze behaalde een graad in burgerlijk recht aan de toenmalige Libera Universit\u00e0 Abruzzese degli Studi \u201cGabriele d\u2019Annunzio\u201d in Teramo (1984) en behaalde haar doctoraat in het canoniek recht in 1992 aan de Pauselijke Lateraanse Universiteit in Rome.<\/p>\n

Van 2004 tot 2013 diende zij als overste-generaal van haar congregatie. Momenteel is Merletti hoogleraar aan de faculteit canoniek recht van de Pauselijke Universiteit Antonianum in Rome en werkt zij als canoniek jurist samen met de Internationale Unie van Oversten-Generaal, de organisatie die vrouwelijke religieuzen van apostolisch leven wereldwijd vertegenwoordigt.<\/p>\n
