Aartsbisschop Edward Weisenburger van Detroit heeft de niet-parochiekerken in het aartsbisdom aangewezen waar de Traditionele Latijnse Mis (TLM) mag worden voortgezet, na een eerdere verklaring dat het merendeel van de TLM-vieringen in de regio zou eindigen. <\/p>\n

In april kondigde het aartsbisdom kondigde <\/a>aan dat de TLM na 1 juli niet langer in parochiekerken gevierd zou worden. Weisenburger zei dat het einde van de TLM te wijten was aan de verduidelijking van het Vaticaan uit 2023 verduidelijking<\/a> dat diocesane bisschoppen niet de bevoegdheid hebben om toe te staan dat de missen in bestaande parochiekerken worden gehouden.<\/p>\n

Het aartsbisdom meldde dat de vergunningen die aan priesters van parochiekerken waren verleend om de TLM uit te voeren, zouden verlopen en niet konden worden verlengd, maar Weisenburger zei dat hij ten minste vier niet-parochielocaties in het aartsbisdom zou erkennen waar de TLM nog steeds gevierd kon worden.<\/p>\n

Op 13 juni bracht het aartsbisdom een Brief<\/a> uit met een update over de missen en een lijst met goedgekeurde kerken. <\/p>\n

\u201cAangezien er een aantal gelovigen in onze lokale Kerk is die spirituele rijkdom hebben gevonden in deze vorm van de Mis, sta ik toe dat deze wordt voortgezet in overeenstemming met de parameters van de Heilige Stoel,\u201d schreef Weisenburger.<\/p>\n

\u201cU zult zich herinneren dat paus Franciscus in 2021 richtlijnen uitvaardigde voor de viering van de Mis in de buitengewone vorm, algemeen bekend als de \u2018Traditionele Latijnse Mis\u2019. Dit is de uitdrukking van de Mis zoals die v\u00f3\u00f3r Vaticanum II werd opgedragen.\u201d<\/p>\n

In de brief werd uitgedrukt dat de missen zullen worden gehouden in overeenstemming met \u201cde nieuwe liturgische leer en het recht van de Kerk.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cEr zijn twee goederen die samen moeten komen terwijl we vooruitgaan: de pastorale zorg voor deze gelovigen en de trouw aan de oproep van de Heilige Vader om van de gewone vorm van de Mis de \u2018unieke uitdrukking van de lex orandi van de Romeinse ritus\u2019 te maken (Traditionis Custodes<\/em>, 1),\u201d zei Weisenburger. <\/p>\n

\u201cGeleid door deze principes zal vanaf 1 juli 2025 de Traditionele Latijnse Mis worden opgedragen in het St. Joseph Shrine in Detroit in de centrale regio en in drie niet-parochiekerken in elk van de overige regio's van het Aartsbisdom Detroit.\u201d<\/p>\n

De andere kerken zijn onder meer St. Irene Church in Dundee in de zuidelijke regio, Our Lady of Orchard Lake Chapel in Orchard Lake in de noordwestelijke regio en St. Joseph Church in Port Huron in de noordoostelijke regio.<\/p>\n

De toestemming voor alle andere kerken en locaties die de TLM vieren, zal nog steeds verlopen zoals oorspronkelijk gepland, op 30 juni.<\/p>\n

\u201cHoewel niet elke priester de vereiste toestemming zal behouden om de Mis volgens de rubrieken van het missaal van 1962 te vieren, zullen een aantal priesters beschikbaar zijn om deze vier regionale locaties te bedienen,\u201d legde Weisenburger uit. <\/p>\n

\u201cIk neem mijn taak om voor alle gelovigen te zorgen serieus en ben ervan overtuigd dat deze nieuwe regeling trouw is aan het recht van de Kerk, terwijl ik mijn zorg voor uw spiritueel welzijn uitdruk.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIk ben onder de indruk van de rijke uitingen van het katholieke geloof in het zuidoosten van Michigan,\u201d zei Weisenburger. \u201cDe eenheid van ons katholieke geloof hoeft niet te worden verminderd door diversiteit. Evenzo is trouw aan Christus alleen mogelijk als we trouw blijven aan de Kerk, onder leiding van onze paus en de lokale bisschop.\u201d<\/p>\n
