De University of Mary heeft 's werelds eerste Catholic Montessori Institute<\/a> (CMI) gelanceerd, waardoor het instituut de aangewezen plek is voor certificering in katholiek Montessori-onderwijs.<\/p>\n

Montessori is populair geworden in zowel seculiere als religieuze ruimtes<\/a> sinds de oprichting door Dr. Maria Montessori (1870\u20131952), een praktiserend katholiek die een manier ontwikkelde om jonge kinderen over God te onderwijzen volgens hun eigen behoeften.<\/p>\n

De University of Mary, een kleine liberal arts-universiteit in North Dakota, zal dienen als thuisbasis voor het nieuwe instituut, waarvan de organisatoren hopen dat het het centrum van katholiek Montessori-onderwijs zal worden.<\/p>\n

JoAnne Schulzetenberg<\/a>, de uitvoerend directeur en visionair achter het programma, zei dat ze van plan is dat het instituut een centrum wordt voor netwerken, mentorschap en verbinding.<\/p>\n

Schulzetenberg, die meer dan 20 jaar ervaring heeft als Montessori-beoefenaar, zei dat ze hoopt dat het programma nieuw leven zal inblazen in het katholiek onderwijs.<\/p>\n

Montessori-onderwijs geeft prioriteit aan holistische ontwikkeling, emotionele en cognitieve groei, intrinsieke motivatie, gemeenschapsbetrokkenheid en wereldburgerschap, aldus Schulzetenberg. <\/p>\n

\u201cDr. Montessori\u2019s methode benadrukt respect voor de unieke ontwikkeling van elk kind en stimuleert autonomie, verkenning en intellectuele, sociale en emotionele groei,\u201d zei Schulzetenberg. <\/p>\n

Er bestaan naar schatting 22.000 Montessori-onderwijsprogramma's in 110 landen \u2014 maar het instituut is de eerste in zijn soort.<\/p>\n

Alle studenten en docenten die CMI-certificering zoeken, beginnen hun training aan de University of Mary, gevolgd door zowel persoonlijke als online cursussen gedurende een jaar. Het trainingsprogramma wordt beheerd door de Association Montessori Internationale<\/a>, de organisatie die Montessori mede heeft opgericht \u201com de integriteit van de methode te waarborgen en een getrouwe overdracht aan toekomstige generaties te garanderen,\u201d aldus Schulzetenberg.
