Wat als je met \u00e9\u00e9n klik zou kunnen vinden wanneer de volgende mis het dichtst bij jouw locatie plaatsvindt?<\/p>\n

Dat is wat de Argentijnse informatica-afgestudeerde Pablo Licheri voor ogen had. Elf jaar geleden maakte hij het voor gelovigen mogelijk om de Eucharistie bij te wonen, zelfs als ze op reis zijn en ver van huis, door het cre\u00ebren van Catholic Mass Times<\/a>, een app beschikbaar in negen talen die je direct de dichtstbijzijnde katholieke kerken toont met tijden voor de mis, biecht en aanbidding.<\/p>\n

\u201cAls we met 1,3 miljard katholieken zijn, stel je dan eens voor wat we kunnen doen als we ook onze mobiele telefoons gebruiken om dichter bij God te komen!\u201d vertelde Licheri aan ACI Prensa, de Spaanstalige nieuwspartner van CNA. Hij maakte de app met zijn eigen computer en programmeerde deze in de weekenden.<\/p>\n

Van nul naar viraal, zonder marketing of sponsoring<\/h2>\n

Er zit geen bedrijf of grote investeerder achter de technologie. Zelfs geen reclame. \u201cBijna 10 jaar lang hebben mijn vrouw en ik alles gefinancierd,\u201d zei Licheri. Om de app draaiende te krijgen, \u201cwerkten we heel hard en gebruikten we ons eigen geld, met tijd die we van onze rust afsnoepten,\u201d legde hij uit.<\/p>\n

noemde Horarios de Misa <\/a>in het Spaans, de app overschreed vorige week de 2 miljoen downloads en is uitgegroeid tot de grootste katholieke database ter wereld, met informatie over 125.000 kerken.<\/p>\n

Er zijn veel uitdagingen geweest bij het verzamelen van de informatie. Van de 3.000 bisdommen wereldwijd hebben er 70% geen website. \u201cIk probeerde contact op te nemen met de bisdommen en parochies, maar ze reageerden vaak niet. Vooral in de armste landen. Deze realiteit is heel anders dan wat we zien in landen als de Verenigde Staten, waar bisdommen bijna als grote bedrijven opereren,\u201d legde hij uit.<\/p>\n

Daarom nam hij een belangrijke beslissing om de gegevens te verzamelen. Hij ontwierp de app zo dat gebruikers rechtstreeks vanuit de app informatie kunnen sturen. \u201cIk heb persoonlijk alle kerken in Buenos Aires ge\u00fcpload, dat waren er meer dan 200. Daarna begonnen mensen te reizen en informatie te sturen\u2026 en zo is het gegroeid.\u201d<\/p>\n

De app heeft een intern team dat de informatie bijwerkt. Via correcties van gebruikers, bisdomwebsites of Google Maps verfijnt het Catholic Mass Times-team alle informatie die mogelijk is veranderd.<\/p>\n

Wanneer je de app opent en een mistijd selecteert, kun je zelfs de laatste verificatiedatum zien.<\/p>\n

De app bevat ook exotische bestemmingen zoals de Malediven, waar de openbare uitoefening van elke religie anders dan de islam verboden is.<\/p>\n

\u201cIk dacht dat daar geen kerken zouden zijn. Maar ik ontdekte dat je als buitenlander bij het Italiaanse consulaat om toestemming kunt vragen om de mis bij te wonen. Dus daar is de enige mis die er in dat land is, en die staat in de app,\u201d legde Licheri uit.<\/p>\n

Beschikbaar op Android<\/a> en iOS<\/a>, de eenvoudige en intu\u00eftieve interface van de app maakt het een onmisbaar hulpmiddel, vooral voor degenen die reizen voor werk, vakantie of verhuizen naar een nieuwe stad.<\/p>\n

Naast de primaire functie heeft de app een pastorale en educatieve dimensie: de afgelopen drie jaar wordt er elke zaterdag een wekelijkse nieuwsbrief over geloof, devoties en eucharistische reflecties verstuurd, die meer dan 52.000 abonnees bereikt.<\/p>\n
