Iraanse autoriteiten ontzegden op 31 oktober de gevangene Aida Najaflou, een Iraanse christelijke bekeerling, de juiste medische behandeling nadat zij was gevallen en haar rug had gebroken.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Najaflou, die <\/span>suffered<\/span><\/a> die voor haar arrestatie al rugklachten had, liep het letsel op toen ze op 31 oktober vroeg in de ochtend uit haar bovenste stapelbed in de gevangenis viel. Ze werd naar een plaatselijk ziekenhuis gebracht, waar medische professionals een gebroken T12-wervel vaststelden. De autoriteiten weigerden Najaflou toestemming te geven voor een behandeling en brachten haar diezelfde dag nog per brancard terug naar de gevangenis.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Vanwege de onmenselijke behandeling en de pijn die Najaflou moest doorstaan, protesteerden <\/span>vond naar verluidt<\/span><\/a> medegevangenen tegen de situatie. Iraanse functionarissen reageerden door de vrouw naar een tweede ziekenhuis te brengen, waar medische professionals een spoedoperatie aanbevalen om haar wervel te herstellen.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Volgens het <\/span>Cleveland Clinic<\/span><\/a>, \u201ceen operatie aan een rugfractuur\u201d wordt aanbevolen als de breuk het risico met zich meebrengt dat het ruggenmerg beschadigd raakt of als de pijn na een paar maanden niet-chirurgische behandelingen niet verbetert.\u201d Het uitstellen van de juiste zorg voor het letsel van Najaflou heeft waarschijnlijk geleid tot extra, onnodige pijn. Haar huidige toestand is onbekend.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Eerdere verzoeken van Najaflou om een lager bed vanwege haar reeds bestaande rugproblemen en een diagnose van reumato\u00efde artritis werden <\/span>dismissed<\/span><\/a> door de gevangenisautoriteiten afgewezen.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Volgens het Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) is Najaflou tijdens haar gevangenschap voortdurend <\/span>adequate medische zorg geweigerd<\/span><\/a> de juiste medische zorg onthouden.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cVoor haar arrestatie onderging [Najaflou] een rugoperatie en ze lijdt aan aanhoudende rugproblemen die voortdurende medische aandacht vereisen,\u201d aldus HRANA. \u201cHet gebrek aan goede zorg in de gevangenis heeft haar toestand verslechterd.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Najaflou werd, samen met <\/span>Twee<\/span><\/a> andere christenen, <\/span>arrested<\/span><\/a> in februari 2025 voor hun christelijke activiteiten, <\/span>inclusief<\/span><\/a> \u201cbidden, dopen, het avondmaal vieren en Kerstmis vieren,\u201d aldus Middle East Concern. Ze is ook beschuldigd van \u201cpropagandactiviteiten tegen de Islamitische Republiek Iran in cyberspace,\u201d evenals \u201cpropaganda ten gunste van groepen of organisaties die gekant zijn tegen de Islamitische Republiek Iran.\u201d Deze aanvullende aanklachten komen voort uit het feit dat Najaflou naar verluidt kritiek uitte op Hassan Nasrallah, een voormalig leider van Hezbollah, en pleitte voor de Vrouw, Leven, Vrijheid-protesten.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

De borgtocht in de zaak van Najaflou is vastgesteld op 11 miljard toman, wat gelijk staat aan $130.000 \u2014 een bedrag dat zij noch haar familie kan betalen.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In september vond een hoorzitting in haar zaak plaats, maar er is nog geen uitspraak gemeld.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
