Desde o ano passado, houve um decl\u00ednio de 32% nas alega\u00e7\u00f5es de abuso infantil contra o clero cat\u00f3lico nos EUA, de acordo com o relat\u00f3rio de 2024 relat\u00f3rio anual <\/a>da Secretaria de Prote\u00e7\u00e3o de Crian\u00e7as e Jovens da Confer\u00eancia dos Bispos Cat\u00f3licos dos EUA (USCCB).  <\/p>\n

No geral, \u201c902 alega\u00e7\u00f5es foram relatadas por 855 v\u00edtimas sobreviventes de abuso sexual infantil por parte do clero\u201d, diz o relat\u00f3rio disse<\/a>, em compara\u00e7\u00e3o com 1.308 alega\u00e7\u00f5es de 1.254 sobreviventes no ano passado. <\/p>\n

Abrangendo de 1 de julho de 2023 a 30 de junho de 2024, o relat\u00f3rio anual baseia-se num inqu\u00e9rito a 195 dioceses e eparquias cat\u00f3licas dos EUA, extra\u00eddo de dados recolhidos pelo Centro de Pesquisa Aplicada no Apostolado da Universidade de Georgetown, bem como numa auditoria da StoneBridge Business Partners. <\/p>\n

O relat\u00f3rio anual decorre da cria\u00e7\u00e3o, em 2002, pelos bispos dos EUA, da Carta para a Prote\u00e7\u00e3o de Crian\u00e7as e Jovens, que estabeleceu um quadro e protocolos relacionados com alega\u00e7\u00f5es de abuso sexual de menores por parte do clero cat\u00f3lico.<\/p>\n

Um total de 717 cl\u00e9rigos foram acusados durante o per\u00edodo de auditoria mais recente, sendo a maioria dos acusados (54%) j\u00e1 falecidos.<\/p>\n

A StoneBridge tamb\u00e9m apontou v\u00e1rios casos de incumprimento por parte de jurisdi\u00e7\u00f5es e entidades que violam os artigos estabelecidos na revis\u00e3o de 2018<\/a> da carta de prote\u00e7\u00e3o da juventude.<\/p>\n

A Diocese de Nossa Senhora da Liberta\u00e7\u00e3o da Igreja Cat\u00f3lica Sir\u00edaca nos EUA, por exemplo, n\u00e3o estava em conformidade devido \u00e0 aus\u00eancia de um programa de forma\u00e7\u00e3o sobre ambiente seguro e por n\u00e3o ter conclu\u00eddo a verifica\u00e7\u00e3o de antecedentes dos volunt\u00e1rios.<\/p>\n

A Diocese de Altoona-Johnstown, na Pensilv\u00e2nia, por sua vez, foi citada por n\u00e3o ter um conselho de revis\u00e3o funcional durante o per\u00edodo da auditoria.<\/p>\n

\u201cMedir a conformidade com a carta permite que cada diocese\/eparquia avalie os pontos fortes e fracos e identifique \u00e1reas program\u00e1ticas que necessitam de melhoria, as quais s\u00e3o cr\u00edticas na nossa miss\u00e3o de proteger as nossas crian\u00e7as\u201d, afirmou o relat\u00f3rio.<\/p>\n

O relat\u00f3rio reafirmou o compromisso da Igreja Cat\u00f3lica \u201cde trabalhar para garantir a seguran\u00e7a das crian\u00e7as e adultos vulner\u00e1veis, realizando verifica\u00e7\u00f5es de antecedentes do clero, funcion\u00e1rios e volunt\u00e1rios, e fornecendo forma\u00e7\u00e3o sobre como identificar e denunciar sinais de abuso\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cPara a Igreja nos EUA e conforme articulado na Carta para a Prote\u00e7\u00e3o de Crian\u00e7as e Jovens, este compromisso traduz-se numa pol\u00edtica de toler\u00e2ncia zero em rela\u00e7\u00e3o ao abuso\u201d, l\u00ea-se no relat\u00f3rio da USCCB.<\/p>\n

As alega\u00e7\u00f5es de abuso t\u00eam mostrado um decl\u00ednio constante desde 2020, com uma m\u00e9dia de 30% de diminui\u00e7\u00e3o anual, de acordo com dados acumulados nos \u00faltimos cinco anos.<\/p>\n
