A Greater Love

Lesson 10 of 12 · About 11 minutes

A Greater Love

If I stop watching porn, what takes its place?

Desire was made for love of God and of other people, so a heart emptied of porn needs a greater love to fill it; Chalmers called this the expulsive power of a new affection, and real goods such as sleep, friends, work, exercise and prayer hold the hours while that love grows.

A farm labourer kneels in a ploughed field with his head bowed over his clasped hands; a lidded pot and other things he has dug up lie in the soil at lower left, and the legs of his plough oxen stand behind him.
