Dutch Prayer for a Grateful Heart
As we close this chapter of elementary school, it’s important to look back with gratitude. This prayer helps us thank God for the teachers who guided us, the friends who shared our laughter, and the lessons we learned.
Heavenly Father,
We come to You today with hearts overflowing with thanks. Thank You for the gift of this school, for the classrooms where we learned, and for the playground where we made so many memories. We are grateful for our teachers who showed us patience and kindness, who challenged us to be better, and who shared their wisdom with us every day.
We thank You for our friends, Lord. For the ones who sat with us at lunch, who helped us with our homework, and who made school a joyful place to be. Help us to cherish these friendships and to carry the love we’ve shared into the next chapter of our lives.

Dear Lord,
You know the future that is waiting for us, even when we can’t see it clearly. As we prepare to leave grade school behind, some of us feel a little nervous about what comes next. The hallways will be bigger, the classes will be harder, and we might not know everyone.
We ask You, God, to replace any fear in our hearts with Your perfect peace. Give us the courage to walk into our new school with our heads held high, knowing that You are walking right beside us. Help us to be brave when we need to speak up, to be strong when we feel overwhelmed, and to be open to making new friends.
Remind us that You have a special plan for us, and this next step is a part of that wonderful plan. We trust that You are in control and that You will give us everything we need to succeed. We place our future in Your hands, knowing it is the safest place to be, In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

You are like a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. As I graduate and step into a new season of life, I know there will be many decisions to make. I don’t want to walk this new path alone; I want to walk with You.
I ask for Your divine guidance. Please lead me in the way I should go. When I feel confused or unsure, quiet my heart so I can hear Your voice. Help me to choose friends who will encourage me to be my best self and to choose activities that will help me grow.

Faithful God,
Thank you for the gift of friendship. You created us to live in community with one another, and I am so grateful for the friends who have made my time in grade school so special. Thank you for the laughter, the support, and the memories we have shared.
