Prayers for Your Pastor: For Preaching, Rest, Family and Church Leaders

  • Paul asked the churches to pray that he would speak the gospel boldly (Ephesians 6:19), that the word would spread (2 Thessalonians 3:1), that he would be delivered from harm and come to them with joy (Romans 15:30–32).
  • Short prayers cover a pastor’s sermon, rest, family, criticism and conflict, counseling, integrity, illness, a new pastor, elders and ministry leaders, and thanks for a pastor.
  • Traditional prayers for clergy are quoted from the 1928 Book of Common Prayer, Archbishop John Carroll’s prayer of 1800 and the Orthodox Great Litany.
