  • إشعياء 43: 18، "لا تذكروا الأوليات"، تأتي مباشرة بعد الآيات 16-17 التي تصف الرب الذي "جعل في البحر طريقاً".

The Bible speaks of forgetting the past in two directions: God does not remember the sins he has forgiven, and his people are told to stop dwelling on what lies behind them. God “remembers your sins no more” (Isaiah 43:25) and makes the same promise in the new covenant (Jeremiah 31:34). Isaiah 43:18 says “forget the former things”, Paul describes himself as “forgetting what is behind” (Philippians 3:13), and Joseph names his firstborn for the trouble God made him forget…
