  • The other is John’s “sea of glass, clear as crystal” before the throne (Revelation 4:6) — water with nothing hidden in it, the opposite of every sea they knew.
  • For the breaking itself, Isaiah 42:3: “A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out.” Both are useless by any reasonable assessment.
  • The Gospel does not promise the glass goes back together. It promises the broken thing is not discarded — and the risen Christ was recognised by his wounds.
