Work and Rest

Reflektion: God established a rhythm of work and rest, setting apart the Sabbath as a day of rest and worship. We are called to work diligently for six days and then rest and honor God on the seventh.
Psalm 127,2

2. Thessalonicher 3,10
“For even when we were with you, we would give you this command: If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat.”
Reflection:Â The Bible emphasizes the importance of personal responsibility and the willingness to work for one’s own provision. Those who are able to work but refuse to do so should not expect to be supported by others. This principle is echoed in various passages that encourage diligence and a strong work ethic. For instance, several bible verses about hard work remind us that effort and perseverance lead to fruitful outcomes. By taking initiative and demonstrating commitment to our responsibilities, we not only honor our commitments but also set a positive example for others in our community.

Titus 2:9-10
“Bondservants are to be submissive to their own masters in everything; they are to be well-pleasing, not argumentative, not pilfering, but showing all good faith, so that in everything they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior.”
Reflektion: Our work ethic and attitude can be a powerful testimony to the transforming power of the gospel. By working with respect, honesty, and faithfulness, we adorn the teachings of Christ and make them attractive to others.
1 Thessalonians 4:11-12
“And to aspire to live quietly, and to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands, as we instructed you, so that you may walk properly before outsiders and be dependent on no one.”
Reflektion: Hard work and a quiet, responsible lifestyle can be a positive witness to those outside the faith. By being self-sufficient and conducting ourselves with integrity, we can earn the respect of others and open doors for sharing the gospel.
1 Timothy 6:1
“Let all who are under a yoke as bondservants regard their own masters as worthy of all honor, so that the name of God and the teaching may not be reviled.”
