  • Il Salmo 103:8 riprende Esodo 34:6 definendo il Signore “lento all'ira”, e 2 Pietro 3:9 spiega il ritardo della venuta del Signore come la sua pazienza.
  • In Galati 5:22 la NIV traduce la pazienza come “longanimità”, la quarta di nove qualità del frutto dello Spirito.
  • “L'amore è paziente” apre la descrizione di Paolo su cosa sia e cosa faccia l'amore in 1 Corinzi 13:4.
  • Giacomo 1:3, Romani 5:3 e Colossesi 1:11 usano hupomone, che la NIV traduce come “perseveranza” o “costanza”.
  • Ebrei 6:15 cita Abramo come colui che ha atteso con pazienza e ha ottenuto ciò che era stato promesso.

The Bible calls God patient and asks the same of his people. The Lord is “slow to anger” (Psalm 103:8) and patient because he wants “everyone to come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9). For people, patience is part of the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) and the first quality in Paul’s description of love (1 Corinthians 13:4).
