概要
- Fifty-two has no symbolic meaning in the Bible, but it is attached to two memorable things.
- The wall of Jerusalem was rebuilt in fifty-two days (Nehemiah 6:15) by people who were not builders, working under threat with half the workforce armed (Nehemiah 4:17).
- Uzziah reigned fifty-two years (2 Chronicles 26:3). The account admires him until one clause: “he was greatly helped until he became powerful” (26:15).
- He then entered the temple to burn incense himself, was confronted by eighty priests, and carried a skin disease until his death (26:16-21).
- Seven, forty, twelve and three carry meaning because Scripture builds it by repeated use. Systems assigning meaning to every number work from outside the text.
