概要
- レントは、キリスト教暦においてイースター（復活祭）前の霊的な刷新と準備のための40日間の期間であり、灰の水曜日に始まり、聖土曜日に終わります。
- 多くのプロテスタント教派にはレントに対する多様なアプローチがあります。聖公会やルーテル教会のように伝統的に守る教派もあれば、バプテストのように適応させる、あるいは全く守らない教派もあります。
- プロテスタントのレントの習慣は、祈り、聖書研究、気を散らすものからの断食、奉仕活動に重点を置くことが多く、個人の遵守には柔軟性があります。
- 一部のプロテスタントは、行いによる義認への懸念や聖書的根拠の欠如を理由にレントを批判しますが、他の人々はそれを霊的な成長と内省の機会と捉えています。
