Summary
- 912 is in the Bible once, as a lifespan: “Altogether, Seth lived a total of 912 years, and then he died” (Genesis 5:8).
- Seth is the third named son of Adam and Eve, born after Cain killed Abel. Eve names him because God had “granted” him in Abel’s place (Genesis 4:25) — granted, not replaced.
- Genesis 5 repeats “and then he died” nine times. The one exception is Enoch, whom God took away (5:24), and the chapter is built so the break is unmissable.
- 912 is one beat in a chapter about mortality. Its function is to be large and to end anyway.
- Scripture assigns it no significance. Seven, forty, twelve and three carry meaning because the text builds it by repeated use.
