Prayer for a Servant’s Heart

Lord Jesus, you are the perfect example of a servant. You washed the feet of your disciples and gave your life for all. I ask you to shape my heart to be more like yours. Faithful God, you are a finisher. You complete every good work that you begin. I ask you for that same spirit of faithfulness in my own life. It is so easy for me to start strong, full of energy and good intentions, but then to lose focus and drift away before the work is done.
Give me the endurance to press on, especially when the work becomes hard, repetitive, or unexciting. Help me to fight against distraction and discouragement. Keep the original purpose and vision clear in my mind, so that I can run the race you have set before me with perseverance.
I want to be a person you can count on, a faithful steward of the tasks you’ve entrusted to me. Help me to not just finish, but to finish well, giving my very best until the end, all for your glory. Let me one day hear you say, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
God values faithfulness and perseverance even more than flashy beginnings. The Apostle Paul gives us a great model, saying in 2 Timothy 4:7, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
