Summary
- Short prayers a man can say for himself cover strength, wisdom, courage, a clean mind, temper, humility, integrity, forgiveness, faith and a burden he has told no one about.
- Paul’s “Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong” (1 Corinthians 16:13) and David’s charge to Solomon, “shew thyself a man” (1 Kings 2:2), are short enough to pray as they stand.
- The 1888 Catholic Manual of Prayers gives “A Husband’s Prayer” to love a wife “as Christ loved His Church”; the 1928 Book of Common Prayer prays “For Every Man in his Work.”
- Prayers for the men in a woman’s or family’s life cover a husband, his health, a father, a son, a brother or friend, and men far from God.
- Micah 6:8 sums up what God asks: “to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God.”
