515 Is Not in the Bible — the Famous Prophecy Is Dante’s

  • 515 does not appear in the Bible and carries no biblical meaning.
  • Its famous prophecy is Dante’s: in Purgatorio XXXIII, Beatrice foretells a deliverer as “un cinquecento diece e cinque” — DXV, which rearranges to DVX, leader. Readers have argued about who he meant for seven hundred years.
  • Scripture encodes a number exactly once and announces that it is doing so: Revelation 13:18 tells the reader to calculate. Some early manuscripts read 616 rather than 666.
  • That single flagged instruction is the whole of the Bible’s cryptography.
  • Seven, forty, twelve and three carry meaning by repeated use. The 153 fish and the 276 aboard the ship resist interpretation, which is what makes them read like records.

515 does not appear in the Bible and carries no biblical meaning.
