  • The lioness in Scripture is almost always a mother figure. Ezekiel 19:1-3 is a funeral lament: the lioness is the nation, her cubs are its kings, and the grief is over what she raised, not over weakness.
  • Nahum 2:11-12 makes Nineveh a lions’ den grown fat on prey and about to lose it; Job 4:11 shows the opposite, a lioness perishing for lack of prey with her cubs scattered.
  • Hosea 13:8 compares God to a bear robbed of her cubs — the fiercest image the prophets had.
  • Scripture contains no dream-decoding system. Daniel 2:27-28 says interpretation belongs to God, not to a key.
  • Useful associations: protection with teeth, what we are raising, and a household’s provision. James 1:5 gives the method — ask for wisdom.
