- Three genuinely carries weight in Scripture, and the pattern reads itself — the text uses it insistently across different books and centuries.
- 1 Corinthians 15:4 has the third day inside a formula Paul says he received, older than his own letter. Behind it stand Jonah’s three days and Abraham’s three-day journey.
- Peter denies three times and is asked three times on the beach whether he loves him. Nobody in the text explains the arithmetic.
- Where Hebrew wants an absolute it repeats three times, and it happens rarely: “Holy, holy, holy” (Isaiah 6:3). No other attribute of God is repeated this way.
- Not every three is symbolic. Many are plain counts, and the test is whether the text returns to it — which is exactly what invented numbers lack.
