  • Daniele 2:21 e Atti 1:7 affermano entrambi che Dio stabilisce i tempi e le stagioni, e in Atti 1:7 Gesù rifiuta di dare ai discepoli una data.
  • 2 Pietro 3:8 risponde agli schernitori che dicono che la venuta promessa è in ritardo, e il versetto successivo spiega l'attesa come la pazienza di Dio.
  • Geremia 29:11 segue una promessa legata ai settant'anni a Babilonia, e Abacuc 2:3 dice che una rivelazione che sembra tardare “non tarderà”.
  • Il Nuovo Testamento usa chronos per il tempo che passa (Galati 4:4) e kairos per il momento opportuno (Galati 6:9, Marco 1:15, Efesini 5:16).
  • Salmo 39:4 e Salmo 90:12 chiedono entrambi a Dio di mostrare quanto sia breve la vita, e il Salmo 90:12 lo chiede “affinché possiamo giungere a sapienza di cuore”.
