概要

  • 聖書には三つ子の夢の記録はなく、その意味も示されていません。夢は妊娠の約束ではなく、そうでないことを言うのは不親切です。
  • 聖書に三つ子は登場しませんが、双子は3回登場します。ヤコブとエサウ、ペレツとゼラ、そして「双子」と呼ばれたディドゥモと呼ばれるトマスです。
  • それぞれの組は、出生順序が何かを決定するという前提に基づいていますが、そのたびにその前提は覆されます。助産師が赤い糸を結びますが、間違った兄弟が先に出てきます。ペレツはキリストの系図に入ります。
  • このパターンは全体を通して見られます。イシュマエルではなくイサク、エサウではなくヤコブ、イスラエルがわざと手を交差させたマナセではなくエフライム、羊の番をしていたダビデなどです。
  • ハンナの祈りは声に出されず、祭司に誤解されましたが、神はそれを聞かれました（サムエル記上1章13-17節）。
