概要

  • No one in Scripture dreams about beans, and the Bible assigns no meaning to such a dream. It has no dream dictionary.
  • Beans do appear twice. Shobi, Makir and Barzillai bring “beans and lentils” to David as he flees Absalom across the Jordan (2 Samuel 17:28).
  • God tells Ezekiel to bake bread from “wheat and barley, beans and lentils, millet and spelt” (Ezekiel 4:9) — a siege ration acted out as prophecy.
  • Beans in Scripture are what is left: the food of exile and the food of kindness, which are often the same food.
  • The three men could not restore David’s throne. They brought supper, and Scripture records their names.

No one in Scripture dreams about beans, and the Bible offers no meaning for one who does. But beans themselves are there — twice — and both times they arrive in the hands of people who are running out of everything. That is worth more than a symbol, dear friends. Let us go and look. Does the Bible interpret dreams about beans? It does not. Scripture records many dreams and interprets only a few, and every one of those meanings…
