概要

  • 食欲不振や隠れる、獣医の診察、検査結果、痛み、老齢や長期の闘病、手術、飼い主の不安、迷子、安楽死、回復への感謝を網羅した10の短い祈り。
  • ローマ典礼には、深刻な病気に苦しむ動物のための祝福があり、司祭が聖水を用いて行います。その祈りは英語の直訳で提供されています。
  • カトリック教会のカテキズムでは、動物はその存在によって「神を祝福し、神に栄光を帰す」ものであり、人々は「動物に親切にする義務がある」と述べています（第2416項）。
  • アッシジのフランチェスコ、ニヴェルのゲルトルード（一般的に猫の守護聖人）、パドヴァの聖アントニオ（失せ物の守護聖人）は、慣習的に猫と結びつけられています。ロシア正教会の信徒は、モデストゥスとブラスに病気の家畜のために祈るよう求めます。
  • 猫がトイレでいきんでも尿がほとんど、あるいは全く出ない場合、または呼吸が苦しそうな場合は、すぐに獣医の診察が必要です。

“Heavenly Father, [name] is sick. You made this cat and you see what I cannot. Take away the pain, give the vet a clear eye, and make [name] well again if that is your will. Amen.” Catholics can also ask a priest for the Roman Ritual’s blessing of animals that are seriously ill. Pray, and call the vet as well: prayer never takes the place of treatment.
