ネズミが道を横切っても何の意味もない — しかしネズミは聖書に登場する

  • ネズミが目の前を横切っても、何の意味もありません。聖書は動物との遭遇に何ら重要性を認めておらず、前兆を読み取ることを明確に禁じています(申命記18:10-14)。
  • その理由は、未来が重要ではないからではなく、神が専門家に解読させるようなヒントではなく、言葉をはっきりと与えてくださるからです。
  • 聖書にはネズミが登場します。契約の箱を奪った後に災いに見舞われたペリシテ人は、「ペリシテ人の領主の数に従って、金の腫瘍五つと金のネズミ五つ」を返還しました(サムエル記上6:4)。
  • 彼らは前兆を頼りに誠実かつ真剣に取り組んでおり、イスラエルの神が背後にいるかどうかを確認するために、くびきを負ったことのない二頭の雌牛を使って試験を考案しました。
  • イスラエルは決してそのようなことをするように言われていませんでした。彼らには言葉があったからです。
