  • クリスチャンとはイエス・キリストの従者です。ギリシャ語の クリスティアノス アウグスチノの クリストス, は「油注がれた者」を意味し、ヘブライ語のメシアを指すギリシャ語です。
  • イエスの従者たちが初めてクリスチャンと呼ばれたのはアンティオキアでのことでした(使徒言行録11:26)。この言葉は新約聖書に3回しか登場しません。
  • カトリック、正教会、聖公会、主要なプロテスタント教会で受け入れられているニカイア信条は、三位一体、キリストの死と復活、そして再臨に対する共通の信仰を要約したものです。
  • 新約聖書は、クリスチャンになることを悔い改め、信仰、洗礼と結びつけています。カトリック教会や正教会は洗礼を重視し、バプテスト教会は個人的な回心とそれに続く洗礼を重視します。
  • 2020年時点で約23億人がクリスチャンであり、主にローマ・カトリック、東方正教会、プロテスタントの3つの系統に分かれています。
