Saints Aquila and Priscilla

Aquila and Priscilla were a married couple, Jewish tentmakers, driven from Rome when Claudius expelled the Jews, and in Corinth they took in Paul, who shared their trade and made tents beside them. They went with him to Ephesus, where they called the Alexandrian Apollos aside and explained the way of the Lord to him more precisely, and in Ephesus and later in Rome the church met in their house. Paul greeted them as "my coworkers in Christ Jesus, who put forth their heads for my soul", and nothing sure is known of their deaths, though the Orthodox tradition holds that Aquila died a martyr and Priscilla with him.

祝日、2つの暦、そして守護聖人
聖人の祝日とは、教会が礼拝の中でその聖人を記念する毎年恒例の日のことであり、ほとんどの聖人にとってそれは彼らが亡くなった日です。これらはキリスト教の暦の中で最も古い祝日の一部です。4世紀の復活祭とペンテコステ、クリスマスと公現祭に続き、教会が守り始めた次の祝日は使徒や殉教者の祝日でした。
多くの聖人には、西洋教会と正教会が何世紀にもわたって別々に暦を構築してきたため、検索ツールに2つの日付が表示されることがあります。同じ聖人を異なる日に記念することもあります。西洋教会は聖ユダを聖シモンと共に10月28日に記念しますが、正教会は6月19日に記念します。ロシア正教会のように、現在でも古いユリウス暦に従っている正教会もあり、これは現在の暦より13日遅れているため、彼らの12月6日は私たちの12月19日にあたります。そのような場合、検索ツールには両方の日付が表示されます。
守護聖人とは、教会が特定の場所、仕事、または必要のために助けを求めてきた聖人のことであり、古いカトリック百科事典にあるように「神への特別な執り成し手であり、適切な代弁者」です。1870年にピウス9世が聖ヨセフを全教会の守護聖人に任命したように、教皇によって宣言された守護聖人もいれば、聖アントニオと失くし物の例のように、長い伝統から生まれたものがほとんどです。
私たちは、人々の検索頻度、名前、ニーズ、日付に基づいて最初の200人の聖人を選び、さらに正教会のキリスト教徒が求める聖人や使徒たちを加えました。その後、聖人が一人もいなかった138日間のそれぞれに聖人を一人ずつ追加し、一年中毎日少なくとも一人の聖人がいるようにしました。さらに、人々がよく検索する聖人を40人追加し、合計378の項目を作成しました。各項目の事実はすべて、カトリック百科事典、アメリカ正教会の聖人伝、バチカンニュース、聖座の公式文書など、私たちが確認し明記した情報源に基づいています。聖人の物語が主に伝説に基づいている場合は、その旨を項目に記載しています。
