17 Bible Verses About Killing

  • The commandment in Exodus 20:13 uses the Hebrew verb ratsach, which Strong’s defines as “to murder, to slay, to kill”; the NIV renders it “You shall not murder”.
  • The law of Moses separates deliberate killing from accidental death (Exodus 21:12-14) and gives the accidental killer a city of refuge and a trial (Numbers 35).
