How Old was Jesus When the Wise Men Came? Decoding Biblical History




The Gospel of Matthew states that Wise Men visited Jesus from the East after his birth.

The Bible does not give an exact age for Jesus at the time of their visit, but estimates range from 4-8 months old.

Many scholars point to Jesus being 6 months old as this was a common Jewish tradition to have a baby circumcised 8 days after birth, making Jesus 6 months old when the Wise Men arrived.

Other theories suggest that the Magi were actually present in Bethlehem when Jesus was born, and thus He would only be one month old.

Many religious experts believe it is impossible to know exactly how old Jesus was when the Three Kings arrived as the Bible does not explicitly state His age.

Some commentators link the timing of the Magi’s arrival with Herod’s slaughter of all male children under two years of age in Bethlehem and its surrounding villages (Matthew 2:16).

This could mean that Jesus could have been anywhere from one month to two years old by the time they arrived.
