  • No one in Scripture dreams of snow, and the Bible assigns no meaning to such a dream. It keeps no dream dictionary.
  • Snow in Scripture is almost always about being made clean by someone else: “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow” (Isaiah 1:18).
  • Scarlet and crimson were fast dyes chosen because they did not fade. That is the force of the image.
  • David uses it after Nathan confronts him: “wash me, and I will be whiter than snow” (Psalm 51:7). The verbs belong to God.
  • Snow is not an achievement. It falls overnight and the field only receives it. Snow also means hardship in Scripture — Benaiah killed a lion in a pit on a snowy day.
