The Bible tells people to lean on God, not on their own understanding, other powers or their own strength. Proverbs 3:5 uses the verb sha’an for what not to lean on; the same verb describes relying on the Lord in 2 Chronicles 16:8, Isaiah 10:20 and Isaiah 50:10.
