- Scripture records no dream of sweets and gives no meaning to one. There was no confectionery in the ancient Near East.
- Sweetness in the Bible is honey, gathered wild, and its first use is for God himself: “Taste and see that the Lord is good” (Psalm 34:8) — an invitation to try rather than to conclude.
- “Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones” (Proverbs 16:24). Kindness repairs as well as pleases.
- Ezekiel eats a scroll that tastes “as sweet as honey” although lament and mourning were written on it (Ezekiel 3:3).
- The same book warns: “If you find honey, eat just enough — too much of it, and you will vomit” (Proverbs 25:16). The counsel is not to renounce sweetness but to eat enough.
