In the Bible the sky is something God made and stretched out, a witness to him, and the place where the disciples watched Jesus taken up. Genesis 1:6-8 names the vault “sky”, Psalm 19:1 says “the skies proclaim the work of his hands”, and Acts 1:9-11 places Jesus’ departure in the sky.
