The Bible does not use the word unconditional, but it describes God’s love as steadfast, given before anyone deserved it, and unbreakable by anything in creation. The Old Testament word most often behind it is hesed, translated steadfast love, unfailing love or kindness: a love of loyalty within a covenant.
