  • Scripture records no dream of bats and gives no meaning to one.
  • Bats appear twice. The first is a dietary list: “the stork, any kind of heron, the hoopoe and the bat” (Leviticus 11:19) — grouped by how creatures move, not by taxonomy.
  • The second is Isaiah 2:20: “people will throw away to the moles and bats their idols of silver and idols of gold, which they made to worship.”
  • The bats are not villains there. They are the tenants of the caves where discarded gods end up.
  • The picture is not of God taking our idols away but of a day when we see what they are worth and let go.
