  • Scripture records no dream of bats and gives no meaning to one.
  • Bats appear twice. The first is a dietary list: “the stork, any kind of heron, the hoopoe and the bat” (Leviticus 11:19) — grouped by how creatures move, not by taxonomy.
  • The second is Isaiah 2:20: “people will throw away to the moles and bats their idols of silver and idols of gold, which they made to worship.”
  • The bats are not villains there. They are the tenants of the caves where discarded gods end up.
  • The picture is not of God taking our idols away but of a day when we see what they are worth and let go.

Scripture records no dream of bats, and gives no meaning to one. But bats are in the Bible, twice, and the second time they turn up in one of the most cutting lines the prophets ever wrote.
