  • 2121 is not a number in the Bible, but John 21:21 is — and it answers a question most of us have asked.
  • Peter, just restored and just told how he will die, turns, sees John following, and asks: “Lord, what about him?”
  • The answer is a refusal: “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me.”
  • John 20 already reads like an ending. Chapter 21 is added, and the last substantial thing it records is a man being told to stop comparing.
  • Chapter divisions came around 1227 and verse numbers in 1551 and 1555. A reference is the Bible’s index, not its content.
